Bridport STW - Wessex Delight with Storm and Sludge Tank Improvements
HANEVO have completed the storm and sludge tank improvement works at the Bridport Sewage Treatment facility. The works were undertaken as part of the new AMP8 ‘Minor Works Framework’.
This project was delivered in two phases with ‘Phase 1’ comprising the removal of the Storm Tank Covers and the provision of new perimeter safety handrail. Following installation of the handrailing the removal of the covers was undertaken via a crane c/w bosuns chair to manually detach the covers and then safely lift them off into Ro-Ro skips. Hanevo rescue systems were always in place during what was an intricate task.
Storm Tank (Before and After):

Works in ‘Phase 2’ involved the replacement of all existing corroded Metalwork on top of the Sludge Tanks. This involved ourElectrical teams replacing all Cable Tray and Upstands while our Mechanical teams replaced all Handrail, Covers and Pipe Supports.
Richard Gray, HANEVO Senior Electrical Project Engineer for the Wessex region noted:
“Hanevo is delighted to have received high praise from the Wessex Water ‘Project and H&S’ delivery teams during works sign off and handover. The successful completion of this project is down to our delivery teams creating and implementing a safe and efficient working methodology for both phases. The works comprised high risk activities which were safely managed throughoutwhile keeping the live plant in operation. The completion of the works compliments our previous time on this site during the ‘AMP7’ Air Blowers replacement project. We look forward to undertaking similar works as we continue into AMP8”.
