Completed in June 2025, Hanevo delivered the refurbishment and repurposing of the Obstetrics Theatres within the live Maternity Department at Epsom Hospital, creating the Trust’s first SMART theatres.

The project involved the conversion of existing clinical spaces into HTM compliant SMART operating theatres incorporating new sensor technology, monitoring equipment and automated environmental setback controls to improve energy efficiency and extend plant life expectancy.



All works were undertaken within the live Maternity Ward, with at least one theatre remaining operational throughout the programme.

Works included:



• Installation of hygienic cladding, anti-static vinyl flooring, suspended ceilings and encapsulated door sets
• Installation of specialist medical equipment including UPS & IPS supplies, surgeons panels, medical gas pendants and operating lights
• New small power, dimmable lighting and associated controls connected to the existing Gateway system
• Medical gas installations, fire alarms and BMS connectivity including SMART theatre technology integration
• Full overhaul of the retained AHU including new fans and dampers connected to the site-wide control systems
• Construction of a new external extension to accommodate new UPS equipment
