Completed in April 2026, Hanevo delivered fire improvement works to the Frank Deas Ward at St Helier Hospital as part of the Trust’s wider fire safety improvement programme.



The project focused on improving means of escape arrangements for patients and staff within the live Acute Medical Ward, including the provision of compliant escape routes capable of accommodating patient bed movement.

Throughout the works, the Frank Deas Ward remained fully operational and patient and user safety was maintained.

Works included:



• Relocating a fire hydrant including excavation, pipework freezing and specialist hydrant works
• Excavation and construction of new pad foundations around live underground services
• Fabrication and installation of galvanised steel ramp structures with handrails and landings
• Installation of a new external steel staircase
• Construction of concrete ramp sections to tie into existing levels
• Replacement of external escape doors and internal fire doors
