Wessex Water award EDM ‘Mon 6’ Contract to Hanevo

Wessex Water have confirmed the award of the “ MON6 M&E Installations Programme ” Contract to Hanevo – awarding all 4 lots – North / South / West and DSEAR. The Contract is awarded under the new “AMP8 M&E Contractors Minor Works Framework Lot 1”.

This project is to deliver on Wessex Water’s commitment to installing monitoring of its Emergency Overflows (EOs) over the next five years (known as U_MON6). The works involve the installation and commissioning of ‘Event Duration Monitors’ to 300+ EO Sites. In addition, where there is a permitted Storm Overflow (SO) on the same site, a Flow Monitor will be installed to measure flows during discharge while Pressure Monitors will be installed to monitor rising main systems for blockages and bursts.

Hanevo will work in conjunction with other Wessex Water 3 ^rd party contractors to co-ordinate on the Civil works, Traffic Management and Access due to some sites being in highways and on 3 ^rd party land. A scoping programme is being rolled out initially to plan all relevant sites and associated technical details, which will form the basis of a phased logistical construction programme. All works are scheduled for completion by October 2028.

HANEVO complete heavy lifting of new chillers at St Helier

HANEVO have completed the lifting and placement of replacement chiller units at St Helier Hospital. As part of a wider scheme to replace aging cooling plant to critical areas, 3 No. new units have been installed on the Comms Room Roof with 2 No installed on the Women's Health building, in readiness for final connections and commissioning.

The crane lifts, utilising a 90t mobile crane, were undertaken on Sunday 29 ^th March to align with the least busy times of the hospital estate. Co-ordination between the NHS Trust and HANEVO was essential to ensure that the lifts could continue efficiently around key areas of the estate, including directly outside the main pedestrian entrance to the hospital and key ambulance circulation areas.

Chiller units were pre-delivered earlier in the week under similar controls, ensuring that, on the day of the lift, necessary large vehicle movements were limited to the absolute minimum. The process will be repeated to remove redundant units once the new systems are up and running, ensuring continuity of critical services for the staff and patients in each facility.

Overseeing successful completion of the installation, Project Manager Mick O'Dea stated "It was extremely satisfying to reach this key milestone on the project with a very smooth process on site. Thanks to all Trust stakeholders and our specialist suppliers in delivering these works with no inconvenience to the hospital users".

An uplifting Saturday for HANEVO at Frimley Park Hospital

HANEVO have successfully completed a major milestone on our project from Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, with the installation of the new Air Handling Unit on the roof adjacent to the Theatre 7 being upgraded.

The installation of the new AHU was a significant challenge requiring extensive co-ordination and planning with many stakeholders. Owing to site constraints, with a landlocked site at the centre of the live hospital estate, and significant unit weights being installed, several lifting solutions were investigated, including serious consideration of a helicopter lift. Working closely with our specialist crane providers, we developed a solution involving a 300t mobile crane with fly-jib attachment, lifting units weighing over 1.5t at a 77m radius over the live hospital estate.

Planning and co-ordination work by HANEVO and the Trust required clearance of the waste compound yard, planning of bin movements, traffic management around road closures on the estate, as well as co-ordination with the air ambulance helicopter service on the site.

In planning the works, we worked closely with the AHU suppliers to optimise the section sizes to suit available crane capacity, including removal of cooling coils and fans to be lifted separately to bring weights down to an acceptable limit.

To minimise disruption and impact, the crane lift was carried out over a full Saturday. The 300t crane required a smaller mobile crane to install the fly jib and complete rigging, a 3 hour operation, with a strategically timed delivery of the sectional AHU in its enclosure to minimise road closure time and impact on traffic flow. The AHU was lifted in 3 main component sections, with 7 additional lifts of smaller plant and ductwork undertaken.

Commenting on the project, Pre-Construction Director Jozef Mountain stated “this complex lifting operation was months in the planning, and it was incredible to see the scale of the operation in full flow on site. We cannot understate the significant input of all parties, from our client at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and their many stakeholders, through to out equipment and plant providers, in ensuring that this challenging and critical stage of the project was completed successfully and safely. This is a true example of successful collaboration across a full project team”.

Shepton STW Chemical Storage Tank Wessex Win for Hanevo

Wessex Water have confirmed the award of the “ Shepton Mallet Purisol Tank” Contract to Hanevo.

This Contract is awarded under the new “AMP8 M&E Contractors Minor Works Framework - Lot 1”.

This project requires Hanevo to act as Principal Contractor to complete Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to install a new Purisol Tank and associated M&E Installation onto a designated existing / unused sludge drying bed area, which will replace the existing aging Tank setup currently located elsewhere on site, with full removal and disposal of existing upon completion and commissioning.

HANEVO have also recently been awarded the Saltford Tanks x 4 replacement project, which we will be considered when programming the works to gain efficiencies between both projects.

St. Georges Hospital washroom project reaches mid-way point for HANEVO

A project to refurbish 20 public and staff washrooms at St Goerge’s Hospital in Tooting has reached the halfway stage. HANEVO are delivering the full refurbishment of all toilets and shower rooms across a variety of areas of the large healthcare estate. Works are being undertaken to a variety of male, female and accessible facilities in a carefully phased approach to maintain adequate provision to patients, visitors and staff as we work in each area.

Works include the full strip-out or each area, with new waterproofing works, floor and ceiling finishes and a combination of decorations and hygienic cladding to the walls. New IPS units and sanitaryware are being provided, with electrical upgrades including new lighting and hand dryers, and mechanical works undertaken to ensure compliance to the overarching water safety strategy.

Project Manager Mick O’Dea noted “These works are spread across a very large healthcare site and require significant material movement to and from the workspace, which is carefully co-ordinated around the hospital to prevent intrusion. A challenging programme requires us to complete around four washrooms every two weeks. We are very pleased with how the project is progressing and the quality standards being achieved are extremely high”.

HANEVO approaching the latter stages of the MAU & Maternity Development at Epsom General Hospital

HANEVO’s project to re-configure the maternity ward at Epsom General Hospital has reached a key milestone with the completion of a new delivery suite. The project, for Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, is being delivered to overcome challenges faced by the maternity department to increase their capacity so they can continue to provide the exemplary care well into the future.

Works involve the creation of a new delivery suite, a Maternity Assessment Unit, 2 new triage rooms, new waiting areas, public toilets and reconfiguration of several offices and kitchen spaces. Significant upgrades are being made to electrical infrastructure to accommodate, with the change-over of main switchboards and distribution boards. New medical gas is being provided in many spaces, with proprietary bed-head trunking and new fabric finishes throughout. Additionally, the opportunity is being taken to upgrade fire compartment performance including new doors and alterations to access controls.

UCLH Appoint HANEVO to deliver LED lighting efficiency programme of works

HANEVO are delighted to confirm that we have been appointed to deliver the installation of over 4,500 light fittings in the Macmillan Cancer Centre at the heart of the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust estate in central London. The works are being undertaken to improve energy performance efficiency, replacing aging light fittings across the entire building.

Already well progressed in the planning stage, we are undertaking collaborative surveys and developing solutions together with the team to ensure that all users and patients across the 8 floors of the building are put first in how we work. The scheme will commence on site in the next few weeks, delivered by our in-house electrical expert resource and working closely with the lighting suppliers and facilities management team throughout over a six-month period on site.

Two New Emergency Lighting projects awarded to HANEVO at Epsom & St Helier

We are delighted to confirm that HANEVO have been recently awarded two lighting replacement projects by Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, across the ground and second floors of the Wells Wing at Epsom General Hospital, and to Lombard road, a satellite ambulance facility.

Both projects comprise the replacement of existing general and emergency lighting with a full “SmartScan” technology energy saving system. Bulk battery replacement is also being undertaken to extend the lift of all fittings to the maximum time possible. All works are due to commence in mid-March 2026 on site, working around live areas of both buildings and requiring careful co-ordination with users and strict infection control measured to be implemented.

Commenting on award, Procurement Manager Grainne Hanley stated “It is excellent news to have been awarded further work with the Epsom & St Helier Trust across their estate. Award of Saltford STW Chemical Storage Tanks

Wessex Water have confirmed the order for the “ Saltford Chemical Tank Replacements” Contract to Hanevo. The Contract is awarded under the new “AMP8 M&E Contractors Minor Works Framework - Lot 1”. The project requires Hanevo to act as Principal Contractor to complete Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to replace the existing 4 x aging chemical dosing tanks with new.

Sequencing is crucial to ensure there is continuous dosing available throughout the replacement period and involves modifying the existing pipework and valving arrangements to allow for pairs of tanks to be replaced at a time. This will also future proof the system in the event that any one tank needs to be removed individually if ever required in the future.

This award follows the success of similar projects in 2023 at Westbury and Thingley. In parallel with this Saltford order, HANEVO have also recently been awarded the Shepton Tanks project, which has similar requirements and both awards allows for efficient coordination between both projects.

Theatre 7 Refurbishment at Frimley Park Hospital

HANEVO are currently delivering the new Theatre 7 refurbishment for Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. The works will provide a modern operating theatre on the 1 ^st floor of the main building, helping the Trust to continue its provision of exemplary clinical care. The new theatre contains new specialist medical equipment including operating lights, surgeons panel and medical gas pendants, as well as a full replacement of all infrastructure including a new AHU to ensure HTM compliance in performance.

Works are well progressed on site, with all contractor design elements completed and 1 ^st fix mechanical and electrical well underway. The old AHU has been removed, and we will be installing a new steel platform in the next 2 weeks above the plantroom roof, ahead of delivery of the new external AHU. Works to install this will involve a complex crane lift which is being carefully co-ordinated around estate access needs and air ambulance movements.

A tight programme is being adhered to whilst meticulously planning and controlling the works to mitigate any impact on user convenience or patient safety in the occupied wards around us.

Commenting on the project, Project Manager Richard Gray stated “we have already established a trusting relationship with the Trust project team and are excited to be showcasing our approach to best practice healthcare construction for this new client. We are working well together to overcome significant logistical challenges, not least the complex crane lift required in mid-March which requires significant collaborative planning by all stakeholders”.

HANEVO awarded place on Wessex Water AMP8 ‘Design & Build Contractors (Minor Works)’ Framework.

HANEVO has been awarded a place on the Wessex Water multi-million-pound AMP8 “Design & Build Contractors (Minor Works)” Framework Agreement – Lot 1 – Non-Infrastructure Works (Potable Water and Wastewater).

This Capital Investment Framework Programme will include New Works, Refurbishments, Replacements and Maintenance works. The Framework activities involve core capabilities such as; Project and Commercial Management, Procurement, Design, Construction and Installation, Commissioning and Decommissioning.

This new success is in addition to the earlier award to Hanevo of the “AMP8 M&E Contractors Minor Works” and “AMP8 M&E Support” Frameworks, both of which were recently announced by Wessex Water.

Wessex Water have confirmed the award of the S105A “ Private SPS Transfer Minor Improvements 25/26” Contract to Hanevo.

This Contract is being undertaken under the new “AMP8 M&E Contractors Minor Works Framework Lot 1” delivery route.

The project comprises Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to upgrade 13 No. newly adopted ‘S105a Private Pumping Stations’ to Wessex Water standards. Due to the nature of these sites, where locations are usually in and around customers properties, the construction programme has been carefully planned and resourced. The programme has been developed to ensure that Hanevo, our supply partners and Wessex Water 3 ^rd Parties work efficiently to meet the delivery dates, while ensuring minimal disruption to customers. Work commences on site in September and runs for 12 weeks.

HANEVO is a recognised Industry leader in managing multi-site schemes of this nature, with proven delivery on previous Wessex Water projects including over 100 No. Private Pumping Station Upgrades and well over 200 No. EDM Installations throughout the AMP7 ‘EM&I Framework’ period.

HANEVO reach for the sky at St Helier Hospital

HANEVO are well advanced on works to refurbish a 40m high chimney at the heart of St Helier Hospital. The project required the installation of scaffolding around the top of the chimney while utilising rope access techniques to undertake the works. Brickwork repairs are almost complete and will continue with weatherproof sealing and full replacement of the lighting protection system to ensure the Chimney remains safe long into the future. Enhanced security and protection measures are in place for the duration of the works to ensure public safety at all times.

Commenting on the project, Contract Director Jozef Mountain stated " HANEVO are excited to be able to showcase our construction and project management skills on a structure with such challenging access and safety requirements. Work with the Trust Personnel during the pre-planning on this project was meticulous with safety metrics being a key KPI . We are expecting works to complete on programme within the next 2 weeks. Hanevo Awarded Equine Therapy Hub Expansion

HANEVO are pleased to have been awarded the contract to construct new facilities at the Equine Therapy Hub in Kilcloon, Co. Meath.

The hub, run by Stewarts Care, provides an equine assisted therapeutic service for children and adults with autism and intellectual and physical disabilities in Meath, Dublin, and Kildare. Equine therapy leverages the unique environment and interaction with horses to provide therapeutic benefits targeting physical, sensory, emotional, neurological, educational, and psychosocial goals, and is a vital service for the local communities.

HANEVO will be constructing a new 14-bay stable building, with a steel frame and specialist equestrian facilities within, as well as a new equestrian arena, bunded viewing area, specialist equestrian fencing and all associated landscaping and drainage works. Currently in the pre-construction design phase, the works are programmed to commence on site in July and are expected to take 5 months to complete.

HANEVO awarded place on Wessex Water ‘M&E Contractors (Minor Works)’ Framework.

HANEVO has been awarded a place on Wessex Water’s Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Minor Works Framework. Working with YTL Construction (UK), the framework agreement will support the delivery of Wessex Water’s capital maintenance and capital investment programme for AMP8.

HANEVO are awarded to Lot 1 – M&E Contractors Minor Works, which includes MEICA and associated civils works on projects that include new, refurbishment or replacement and maintenance works.

Having been included on previous AMP7 ‘EM&I’ and ‘M&E Support’ Frameworks, HANEVO have proven to be a trusted supplier to Wessex Water for many years.

Elizabeth Yates and Simon Longley, together with our dedicated team, have overseen the building of the HANEVO capability in the Wessex Water region over AMP7 and are delighted to have that long term approach rewarded with this new framework.

A state-of-the-art Eye Clinic is now providing treatment to support care provision in the Kingston-upon-Thames community. This follows the successful completion and handover of the new facility to our client, SEON Vision. Hanevo has built this eye clinic to the highest levels of quality.

Located in the heart of Kingston, the works completed by HANEVO demanded meticulous attention to detail to create the best possible patient experience. Inspired by the world-class centres where the surgeons trained, we collaborated with the client and architect to provide a space that promotes healing, safety, and efficiency. The Scandinavian-inspired design, soft colour palette, and floor-to-ceiling windows provide a calming atmosphere, with a circular, one-way patient route to ensure a seamless journey.

Commencing from shell & core, the new facility includes a welcoming entrance, reception, main waiting and post procedure waiting areas. Clinical spaces include an Ophthalmic theatre (built to operating theatre standard), diagnostics room, minor operations room (which dual functions as consultation / examination room) and a Laser treatment room. Ancillary public and staff spaces complete the space.

The 5-month scheme was a full design and build approach and included the highest quality finishes throughout to meet the chosen aesthetic. Fitted furniture was specifically made to provide a focal feature whilst also complying with healthcare specifications and standards to ensure we met CQC requirements, a critical requirement to put the facility into use.

Originally the ground floor of a commercial unit, the building is was the heart of Kingston in a busy public realm, so coordination around existing property, pedestrian & traffic movement and occupants directly above and beside the works was carefully managed by our site team throughout all stages of the works. HANEVO works included:

Façade adaptions to integrate louvres and reduce solar gain to internal spaces.
MVHR system to surgeries & circulation & VRF units to office space for comfort.
Full electrical works including feature architectural lighting & electrical outlets.
Partition walls & a combination of solid MF ceilings & suspended tiles, with large areas of hygienic wall coverings.
Bespoke joinery of the highest quality to reception areas & surgeries to meet CQC compliance whilst maximising aesthetics.
High-quality tiling to floors & restrooms and specialist vinyl floor finishes to clinical spaces including the theatre.
A combination of timber door-sets and specialist GRP door units to clinical space.
Integrated specialist medical equipment including installation of infrastructure, medical gas & associated plant, with coordination of installation by specialists.
Theatre fit-out including operating lights, surgeons panel, UPS and IPS pendants and associated equipment.

Operational since early 2025, the works have proven to be a significant success and meet exactly the client's aspirations and patient need in all aspects. SMART Obstetrics Theatres for Epsom Hospital

HANEVO are delighted to have completed our Obstetrics Theatres project, undertaken for Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The scheme was designed to improve patient treatment space for the maternity services that the Trust provide. The project was completed with no impact on the ongoing Maternity Ward service provision to an exemplary standard of finish. Works involved the full repurposing of an existing recovery space into a HTM compliant SMART theatre and the conversion of the adjacent theatre into a SMART theatre. These provide the first SMART theatres across the Trust’s estate, providing new sensor technology and monitoring equipment to monitor environmental measures and implementing an 'automated set-back mode' which triggers when theatres are not operational, turning off devices and equipment to reduce energy use and extending associated plant life expectancy.

All works were undertaken in the live Maternity ward, with careful control of the surrounding environment through extensive dust and aspergillus controls and consideration of user need throughout. At least one theatre remained operational for the full duration of the works, save for a strict 9-day window where alternative space was used to allow conversion of Theatre 1 to the SMART approach. Through meticulous planning, works were carefully co-ordinated with full stakeholder involvement throughout in a collaborative approach, including ward leads, nursing staff, estates management, fire officers, security teams and infection control. Extensive co-ordination of electrical shutdowns was an essential part of the works to maintain business as usual and patient safety as we brought the new equipment on-line. This involved several surveys, significant up-front planning, and temporary supplies to maintain essential equipment during such activity. This would not have been possible without our supply chain to whom we are very grateful.

Works included but were not limited to:

Installation of hygienic cladding and flooring, new ceilings, and doors.
Specialist medical equipment including new UPS & IPS supply, surgeons panel, IPS pendant and Operating Lights.
New small power, dimmable lighting and associated controls connected to the existing Gateway system.
Medical gas installations, fire alarms and BMS connectivity including SMART Theatre technology integration.
New Trough sinks in IPS units.
Overhaul of the retained AHU that served both theatres, with new fans, dampers and ductwork to ensure HTM compliant airflow and heating/cooling performance and to meet the Trust fire strategy for occupant safety.
Full construction of a new external purpose-built extension on the floor below to house new UPS and controls and air conditioning equipment.

EDM Advanced MCerts Award – Westwood WRC:

Hanevo are delighted to have been awarded the Westwood WRC screening works electrical package, with the works to commence in mid-October.

The works will comprise the ele ctrical installation and commissioning of a new Huber Screening assembly installed by others. Works will also include EDM monitoring equipment, flow metering, penstock installation, lighting, and telemetry.

Commissioning is programmed to commence early November and will involve liaison with the Wessex Water Automation department, with Wessex Water acting as principal contractor for the project.

Simon Longley, HANEVO Contracts Manager , noted: “Wessex Water have engaged with Hanevo to complete the Electrical and Com missioning works on this project, as we have proven experience with them on previous EDM works and Huber screening installations. HANEVO awarded roofing project at St Helier Hospital

HANEVO have been awarded a critical project to replace the roof coverings to the D Block at St Helier Hospital. Works are due to commence within the next 2 weeks, with e xisting roof finishes removed and a new specialist membrane applied. Repairs are also required to leadwork, parapets and copings, ensuring a water-tight structure for the patients and staff using the many clinical spaces within the building.

Works are planned to be completed over a 2-month period, with minimal temporary works through use of proprietary working at height plant and equipment to ensure full operative safety.

Commenting on the award , Project Manager Mick O'Dea stated "We are delighted to have secured another project for our long-term clients at this NHS Trust. It builds upon an excellent track record of refurbishment delivery and direct experience of the roofing products being used, having undertaken the same scope of works on other buildings across the estate".

HANEVO well underway on Therapy Gardens for Epsom Hospital Patients

HANEVO have commenced works at Epsom General Hospital to transform a dedicated external space into an aesthetically pleasing Therapy Garden for patients to benefit from. With the project funded through charitable donations, HANEVO have worked closely with the Trust to make the project affordable using 3D and video representations and have offered direct support including the donation of some material elements.

Works involve a large volume of excavation works, with new planters and hard landscaping as well as ornamental features and seating.

Commenting on site, Construction Manager Chris Jeffries commented, "We have progressed well on site and are undertaking the works carefully to accommodate the ongoing needs of a live healthcare estate. Quality will be ensured through the highly skilled and trained workforce that we have appointed on the scheme, and we are eager to see the first patients getting the benefits of this therapeutic external space, enhancing their care that is expertly provided by the Trust".

HANEVO awarded private Eye Clinic fit-out in London

HANEVO have been awarded the fit out, from shell and core, of a new privately run Eye Clinic in London. Commenced on site in June 2024, and being completed by November, the new facility will provide high quality ophthalmic clinic for use by the local community, giving greater choice to patients and complement the existing healthcare provision in the local area.

With high quality finishes throughout to give an attractive aesthetic, the project involves the refurbishment of the ground floor of a commercial property and includes full new mechanical and electrical systems and material finishes in accordance with necessary Healthcare regulations.

The completed facility will include a welcoming entrance, reception, main waiting and post-procedure waiting areas. Clinical spaces include an Ophthalmic theatre (operating theatre standard), diagnostics room; minor operations room (dual function as consult/exam rooms and a Laser treatment room, as well as all ancillary public and staff spaces.

Vale Road Sludge Screens

Vale Road Sludge Screens

Works are progressing on programme at Hanevo’s ‘Vale Road’ project - ‘Sludge Screening M&E Works’.

This project commenced in March with Bartletts Civils acting as the Principle Contractor on site to complete their required civils works.

With the civils completed early, Hanevo acquired the handover of PC Role / CDM Management from Mid May.

This project involves Fabrication, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works - to install a new MCC & Kiosk, Access platform and Staircase, Strainpress Chutes, Break Tank, Various new pumps, pipework, valves and accessories with associated instrumentation.

Works are projected to complete in September 2024 and are on schedule.

EDM Advanced MCerts – North Nibley

EDM Advanced MCerts – North Nibley

Hanevo has completed all civils and mechanical works at North Nibley – which is the first of two awarded EDM Advanced Contracts – the other being Wootton Bassett STW which commences Monday 12 ^th August.

Hanevo are acting as Principal Contractor to manage the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works on both sites. Each site comprises the installation of Pumping Stations to divert the incoming flows, to avoid double counting flows at the inlet prior to MCerts flow meter. For these projects, Hanevo engaged in up-front design works, including attendance at Hazop and Design Review meetings, to assess buildability.

The driver for this project is significant pressure from Ofwat and the Environment Agency to demonstrate continuing compliances. Combining the EDMs on Spill to Storm being installed in AMP7, will enable Wessex Water to confirm that the permitted FFT for each WRC is being complied with.

Both sites are programmed and resourced, to completed at the end October 2024.

Works are nearing completion on site at our ‘Shepton Mallett Blowers’ project. The project comprises Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to install 5 new blowers and associated stainlesss steel pipework, valves and fittings. The works are required due to age related issues, with focus on maintaining works process performance.
works are progressing on programme with the first 3 blowers installed and commissioned. The remaining 2 blowers are being installed ready for commissioning by mid-August. The work is being undertaken while the plant continues to operate.

HANEVO Awarded Grade 2 Listed Educational Works Contract

HANEVO have been awarded the full internal and external refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Heywood House Building for ACS International School in Cobham, Surrey. These works follow the successful refurbishment works that HANEVO undertook to the West Lodge building on the same campus and highlight our successful approach to delivering to our client's needs, giving them the confidence to entrust us with this larger scale project at the heart of the school. As party of the school’s development Masterplan, occupants moved out from the facility into the refurbished West Lodge, enabling Heywood House to be repurposed into educational space to benefit the students for the long term.

Works commenced on site in November 2023 and have progressed at great pace, with extensive efforts to ensure that the needs of heritage bodies are accommodated in all that we deliver. We have progressed with the necessary strip-out works internally, with structural alterations and mechanical & electrical 1 ^st fix well underway. Externally, full height scaffolding has enclosed the building, with refurbishment of the lime render, period timber sash windows, stonework and period features nearing completion on all elevations with scaffolding due to be removed in early March.

Going forward, a full fit out will be undertaken to all internal spaces, with a complete re-wire, new data, fire alarm and security works alongside a full new ventilation and heating strategy across both floors of the building. Feature glazed balustrading and a large volume of bespoke fitted furniture will be installed to provide a secure and adaptable teaching space that accommodate the constraints of a listed building setting. Significant efforts are being made to retain internal period features, including a strategy to work from above into floor voids to protect the integrity of decorative ceiling features and cornicing. Specialist contractors are engaged to upgrade the period timber doors and frames to meet improved fire protection whilst maintaining the aesthetic required to satisfy the heritage elements of planning approvals.

Commenting on the project, Hanevo Project Manager Michael O'Dea noted, “The award to HANEVO of this highly sensitive and prestigious project is testimony to the success we achieved on our last project at Cobham, in terms of high-quality product and delivery without disruption to the client's educational delivery. Thingley & Westbury

Thingley & Westbury

Works are nearing completion on the ‘Dosing Tanks Replacement’ projects at Westbury and Thingley.

The works comprised M&E and Civils – namely the disconnection, removal, disposal of existing chemical storage tanks - and the installation and commissioning of 2 x new Ferric Storage Tanks on each site.

The programme was developed to enable the two sites to run concurrently, by utilising reliability periods to fully optimise installation durations. The project is in the final stages, with all tanks now connected, awaiting checmical deliveries to enable reliability testing.

Swanage UV Progress

Swanage UV Progress

Works are underway on Phase 2 of the ‘Swanage UV Installation’ project. The project involves the installation a duty/standby UV System, Pumps, Mixers and Copa-sacs with accompanying instrumentation and control systems along with a new flooring system over the UV Sump.

Phase 1 involved the installation of 100 Metres of 200mm diameter Stainless Steel pipework in the long void area behind the cliff face.

Phase 2 involves the remaining pipework installation, along with further mechanical and electrical works, which will be completed and commissioned in February 2024.

Prior to contract commencement, the client had envisaged that part of the site would be shut down to facilitate the works. However, this could not be facilitated, and the Hanevo team, working with the client, re-evaluated and amended the methodology in devising a temporary works solution that maintained site operations.

Hanevo's Water Division recently welcomed new starter Andrew Hall to the team. The Water Division Management team visited Swanage STW recently to undertake a site audit and were delighted to meet with Site Manager Paul Jukes, Electrician Jamie Tate and Electrical new starter Andrew.

This high-profile UV contract is well advanced in Phase 2 of Construction and is programmed to be completed by the end of February 2024. Well done to all on a very successful audit result.

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of the ‘Vale Road – Sludge Screening M&E Works’.

The project comprises Principal Contractor management of Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to install a new MCC & Kiosk, Access Staircase, Strainpress Chutes, Break Tank, Various new pumps, pipework, valves and accessories c/w with associated instrumentation.

The driver for this project is to ensure that the S Max is safe by reducing H2S Concentrations. Alternative screening provisions for imported sludge is required to remove any rags from the thickened sludge transferred from Yeovil to Ham thus maximising reactor operational capacity. Works will commence on site in March 2024 and are programmed to complete in July 2024. HANEVO has gained an enviable reputation, with proven delivery on previous and current live projects of this nature such as Swanage UV, Chilton Saltlands Penstocks, Chemical Dosing tank replacements, Frome STW Recirc PS Upgrade, Private Pumping Station Upgrades (90 sites) and numerous EDM installations (400 sites). This work has all been undertaken in recent years under the ongoing EM&I framework.

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of two sites under the new EDM Advanced Contracts programme.

North Nibley STW and Wootton Bassett STW projects comprises up-front design involvement, including attendance at Hazop and Design Review meetings, to assess buildability. Following this early engagement, Hanevo will act as Principal Contractor to manage the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works on both sites.

Epsom Hospital has received an energy efficiency upgrade utilising Rehau’s curtain walling and Total70C windows. The install took place in an active emergency department smack in the middle of the covid pandemic.

The NHS, Rehau, Hanevo, JM Aluminium and the LH&E Cost Consultancy all had to work together to ensure there was no disruption to the emergency department and operating theatres.

Epsom Hospital is a healthcare facility like any other, providing services spanning accident and emergency, diagnoses and more to the people of its namesake borough in Surrey. As a critical piece of infrastructure, its continued operation is vital to the health and wellbeing of the local community. However, like any long-serving site, upgrades to the building’s fabric would eventually be necessary in order for it to remain operational.

Major challenge

“Getting projects across the line in a live hospital environment is a challenge at the best of times, let alone during a global pandemic,” says Dan Kocev, project manager at Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. “However, vital energy efficiency upgrades were necessary to bring the site into the 21st century and ensure that it is able to continue providing the best possible environment for care.”

Natanael Florut, project commissioning manager at the Trust, adds: “We had some old timber screens and windows that simply weren’t up to scratch in terms of energy efficiency. While choosing something like Rehau's curtain walling was quite straightforward, I knew that the matter of the installation would be something else entirely, especially as our database did not have too many technical records from when the hospital was initially built.”

Critical

Owing to the complex nature of the project, critical infrastructure specialist Hanevo was brought on board to facilitate the design and build. JM Aluminium was then awarded the contract for the installation based on a list of recommended commercial installers and fabricators provided by Rehau. LH&E Cost Consultancy provided cost consultancy and contract administration services.

Noel Hanley, executive chairman at Hanevo, says: “Working in critical infrastructure means that we’re no stranger to complex projects but we knew that this installation would be difficult even by our own standards. However, through close collaboration with Rehau and the other project partners we were able to come up with a design that we were confident would work.

“Jennifer Marshall at LH&E was amazing in helping the entire project team, by financially reviewing the different design options to ensure the design selected met the client’s budgetary expectations. Annie Thomas then successfully managed the project post-contract as contract administrator and kept on top of all commercial aspects in her role as quantity surveyor.

“Kevin O’Neill at Rehau helped out with the drawings and window specification and ensured that the whole project was compliant with building regulations. The section we were replacing backed onto critical operating theatres and quiet rooms that would remain in use during the installation, so the plan was to complete the removal screen-by-screen. This would also help keep the site protected from the elements as we worked through the winter.”

Action plan

With the stage set for the installation, it fell upon JM Aluminium to put the plan into action. “This was one of the most ambitious projects we’ve ever taken on,” says David Morant, a director at JM Aluminium. “The new curtain walling was to be installed over a live ambulance bay and main pedestrian thoroughfare, meaning comprehensive health and safety assessments were necessary. From here, it was clear that we’d need a specialist system to get the profiles up safely.

“We were able to work closely with London Network Scaffolding to design a bespoke hydraulic and mechanical system, adapting the top of the scaffolding and fitting an electric hoist to raise the panels up through the middle.”

Windows in time for winter

Alongside the complex curtain walling installation, the project also saw the installation of 20 Total70 windows in a foil wood grain finish. All in all, the project would take sixteen weeks, beginning in spring 2022 and concluding in the winter.

Kevin O’Neill, a commercial manager at Rehau says: “Collaboration can often be a buzzword across the industry, however I don’t think I’ve worked on a project that epitomises it more than this. The outcome simply wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and adaptability of our stakeholders, from design through to installation. Minimising disruption was our main priority over the course of the project. The NHS has told us it had few complaints, so we hope to lend our expertise to similar projects in future.”

Chilton Saltlands Penstocks – Project Update

Chilton Saltlands Penstocks – Project Update

Hanevo are pleased to report that works have been completed on Phase 1 of the ‘Chilton Saltlands Penstocks Upgrade’ project. This phase of works comprised Mechanical & Electrical works to repair the Inlet Penstocks and make provision for future actuation. Working in close collaboration with Wessex Water, completion of these works was achieved whilst over-pumping flows of 200l/s back into the rising main to facilitate access into the 26ft deep penstock sumps. Noteworthy is that over-pumping was only permitted during daytime working hours and coupled with the weather conditions, this made for a challenging phase of the project.

The successful completion was helped by careful pre-construction planning and the dedication of the on-site delivery teams. As this site is contained within a built-up housing area, special attention to mitigation measures for noise and security concerns formed a key element within our CDM setup. Phase 2 of the works entails the installation and automation of Rotork Actuators and their subsequent commissioning. These Phase 2 works are scheduled for early January 2024.

Richard Gray, Senior Electrical Project Engineer at Hanevo noted “These important Phase 1 works were not without their challenges. The intricacy, depth, location, and over pumping requirements of the works meant that close collaboration with our client was paramount. Safety was the key driver in planning. This attention to detail combined with the skill of the Hanevo installation teams is a source of pride to all involved particularly when the client PM wrote to Hanevo stating “a fantastic amount of work has been completed by Paul and the team on a difficult job”

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of a new project to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the aeration system at Bridport WWTW with the replacement of the existing air blowers. The project includes Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works associated with the new blowers and stainless-steel pipework distribution headers and delivery pipework. The blowers will be installed in a duty/standby configuration. Additionally, Hanevo will act as Principal Contractor to manage the civil works being provided by others.

Project Review: Hanevo Primary Contractor for Epsom Hospital Refurbishment

Below is a recently produced video detailing the refurbishment of Epsom Hospital. Hanevo acted as primary contractor on the project and participated in the production of this video.

Hanevo Contracts Manager, Jozef Mountain details within the video, how Hanevo took a ‘lessons learned’ approach to the screen installation, developed a bespoke scaffolding solution and worked closely with the project delivery team.

The project entailed the replacement of 4 sections of the curtain wall originally installed at the hospital. This required experience of working in public buildings.

Key consideration was the fact this work was to be conducted in a live hospital environment, primarily at the entrance to the A&E department. In order to develop the construction solutions Hanevo worked closely with ward leads to ensure disruption was kept to an absolute minimum and collaborated with installers, the NHS team, technical and design support throughout.

HANEVO have been awarded a full refurbishment, remodel & extension to the West Lodge building on the ACS International School site in Cobham, Surrey. With works commenced in July 2023 under a traditional form of contract, we have completed strip-out works & are well progressed with the extension construction & 1 ^st fix elements in the main building.

Across two floors of the building, works comprise the full strip-out & repurposing of the building to provide ancillary meeting & administrative space for the school, one of the most sought after educational establishments in the area. The new space will house several glazed meeting rooms, open plan office space & ancillary facilities to ensure staff comfort & convenience. The new single storey extension is built to blend in with the retained building, with significant alterations to the roof to facilitate. Thermal & Acoustic performance are being significantly enhanced in the building to ensure that it not only offers a comfortable & user-friendly space, but also that efficiency is optimised for the future use. Externally, works include new landscaping and the creation of additional parking space for staff using the building.

Commenting on the project, Contracts Director Jozef Mountain stated “HANEVO are delighted to have been awarded the project for such a high-profile client. It enables us to showcase our abilities to deliver in the educational sector to the highest levels of quality and safety. The final product is of an exemplary standard, with the highest quality of finishes achieved in every aspect. The design & build works have included new functional clinical spaces, including x-ray provision, and all ancillary space for staff & the public alike. Swanage UV Installation

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of the new ‘Swanage UV Installation’ project. Due to it’s seafront location, Swanage STW site is critical to Wessex Waters operations and is one of their most prestigious sites. The project planning includes off site fabrication in the Autumn / Winter of 2023 with the installation works being completed and commissioned in an 8-week shutdown period in early 2024.

The project comprises Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works, to install a new duty/standby configured UV System. Pumps, Mixers and Copa-sacs with accompanying instrumentation will be installed. As part of the mechanical works Hanevo will supply and install a new flooring system and over 100 Metres of 200mm diameter Stainless Steel pipework in various areas of site including in a small, long void area behind the cliff face.

HANEVO has gained an enviable reputation, with proven delivery on previous projects of this nature such as Frome STW Recirculation Building Upgrade, Private Pumping Station Upgrades (90 sites) and EDM Operations (220 sites). This work has all been undertaken in recent years under the ongoing EM&I framework.

Wessex award new Year 4 EDM Contract to Hanevo

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of a new Year 4 Event Duration Monitoring (EDM) Contract commencing with 27 No. Sites, as part of a rolling contract.

The EDM project comprises Electrical and Commissioning works, to existing and new flow monitoring installations, to ensure all Spills to the Environment are captured and recorded by Wessex Water. The previous Year 3 contract awarded to Hanevo was successfully delivered between January 2022 and July 2023, which comprised of works to 116 sites.

Due to the varied scope of works and the location of some monitoring equipment (i.e under manholes in roads) a number of parties will be engaged to ensure works can be completed. These include Civil Crews, Traffic Management, Specialist Cover Lifting Crews, WW Automation, IS E2E Testing Department who all work together in conjunction with the Hanevo Electrical and Commissioning teams. Hanevo and Wessex Water Project Managers collaborate to plan and deliver a successful rolling programme.

HANEVO has gained an enviable reputation in managing multi-site schemes of this nature, with proven delivery on previous projects such as Private Pumping Station Upgrades (90 sites) and EDM Operations (220 sites). This work has all been undertaken in recent years under the ongoing EM&I framework.

Chilton Saltlands Penstocks

Wessex Water have confirmed the award to Hanevo, of the ‘Chilton Saltlands Penstocks Upgrade’ project. The project comprises Mechanical, Electrical and Commissioning works to repair the actuated Inlet Penstocks.

Hanevo will set up an over-pumping arrangement and divert flows of up to 200l/s back into the rising main further upstream to allow the works to take place. The main works involve the cleaning of two large sumps to allow access to refurbish the Penstocks including the installation of new spindles. The site is contained within a built-up housing area and mitigation of noise, on site security and public safety have been paramount in project planning and decision making. Working closely with our specialist supply chain, Hanevo will provide an acoustic pump system and specialist security setup to meet these requirements. HANEVO has extensive experience with this type of project involving specialist temporary works.

HANEVO have been awarded the full design and build of the Sandford Dental Clinic in Bexleyheath. The project involves the remodelling of the existing facility across four floors, with a large element of the adjacent clinic remaining operational throughout. Our scope of works includes the design of all building fabric and M&E services, and the installation of the same, with commencement on site in June 2023.

Works include the remodelling of the Ground Floor, with a new feature glazed & bronze extension as a focal point for the entrance, with external landscaping also upgraded. Internally we will create a new, welcoming reception space for patients, with feature lighting and high-quality bespoke furniture. To facilitate this, significant structural work is required, as well as extensive MEP service alterations. Competing the ground floor will be a new dental surgery and facial aesthetic room, with feature glazed walls. On the upper floors we undertake a full refurbishment, resulting in six remodelled surgeries and numerous ancillary facilities for both staff and patients. Significant works are required in the basement are to facilitate service requirements, with the design optimising all available space.

HANEVO Awarded Complex AHU Replacement for Special Baby Care Unit

HANEVO have been awarded the full design and build project to replace a large Air Handling Unit providing critical air movements to the Special Baby Care Unit (SCBU) at Epsom Hospital. With the AHU having reached end of life, it requires replacement to current regulations to ensure full compliance with HTM criteria. The SCBU unit requires a decant during the works, to enabling intrusive duct cleaning and damper works in the department, for which HANEVO are working closely with the stakeholders to ensure suitable decant space is prepared and a seamless transition for these critical services can take place both before and on completion of the works. Design works have been progressed to the point where the AHU has now been ordered by the HANEVO team and extensive stakeholder liaison has taken place to ensure the full requirements of all users are accounted for in both the end product and the installation methodology.

Works are complicated by the AHU being located beneath, and structurally supporting another large AHU that feeds the Maternity Unit and is to remain live throughout the works. As such a bespoke steel support structure is being installed to enable removal of the lower AHU for replacement without any need to isolate or shut down the Maternity Unit. As part of the works HANEVO are also ensuring upgraded fire compliance of the retained ductwork installation to meet the Trust’s current Fire Strategy. This includes the addition of fire dampers to the ductwork and extensive associated controls wiring and panel adaptions to ensure functionality.

HANEVO have been awarded the full design and build of a new Dental Clinic for a private client in London. The works involve the fit-out of a shell and core facility at t he heart of a prestigious new residential development, providing private dental treatment of the highest quality. Works are being undertaken in a constrained site with close control and co-ordination required with the estates team, surrounding businesses and residents alike for all logistics and delivery methods.

The works involve the design and build installation of all building fabric and MEP services with commencement on site in late March 2023. The facility will house 5 treatment surgeries and ancillary space, with significant features including high-quality building finishes and an array of specialist bespoke furniture to compliment the client’s dental offering. The building will include feature architectural detailing including polished plaster feature walls, recessed feature lighting throughout, specialist surface works, pocket sliding doors, bespoke timber panelling and porcelain-tiled circulation space. Additional activities include radiation protection from X-ray equipment and installation of specialist dental equipment in the surgery spaces.

Chemical Storage Win for HANEVO

Hanevo has been awarded the project to install new Ferric Storage Tanks at the Westbury and Thingley STW’s. The works at both sites involve Civil & M&E requirements and includes the disconnection, removal & disposal of the existing chemical storage tanks in conjunction with the transportation, installation, and commissioning of 2 x new Ferric Storage Tanks. The programme has been developed to enable the two sites to run concurrently, by utilising reliability periods to fully optimise install durations. The project is now in design and procurement stage, with site enabling works due to commence later this month. The overall project is expected to run for 10 weeks.

Having been previously awarded a place on the Wessex Water Amp 7 EM&I and maintenance framework, Hanevo is delighted to confirm the extension of this framework by 2 year s to the end of 2024.

St Helier Hospital Link Tunnel

St Helier Hospital Link Tunnel

Hanevo has been awarded the contract to renovate and repair the Link Tunnel at St Heliers Hospital.

The work will be carried out in a live working environment. Hanevo P roject Co-ordinator James Andresen explained the work will involve repairs to seal the basement walls and floors to protect against water ingress. The Link Tunnel will be kept in operation for satff and patient use throughout the works.

RAMS for the project have already been issued with pre-commencent planning well underway. James noted that the work is due to start on site shortly and is expected to take 6 weeks.

Frome Success

FROME SUCCESS

Hanevo has reached completion stage of the ‘Frome STW Recirculation Building Upgrade’ contract for Wessex Water.

Wessex Water handed over control of the Recirculation building to Hanevo in May 2022, under which a full CDM site setup was established.

The project involved all civil, mechanical, electrical & ICA works, which included the removal of existing shaft driven pumps, pipework, control panel and installation of new, whilst keeping the site operational. New instrumentation was installed to facilitate control of the pumps and new flooring to aid removal of the new pumps. As part of the project, the existing Mains Cable to the building required replacement. This involved the installation of 9 new cable pits and cabling along a 220M route up to the Inlet MCC Building.

The main project objective was to increase recirculation pump efficiency and flow rates. The anticipated improvements have been surpassed with the installation of the new pumps, lending itself to positive commentary from Wessex Operations and Process Staff. Wessex Water Project Manager for the scheme, while thanking Hanevo noted, “The project has been delivered both on time and within our budget constraints”.

HANEVO have reached practical completion on the Cath Lab enabling project, enabling Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust to provide critical services to thei r patients in line with their care provision commitments. With the Cath Lab unit only delivered in mid-May, HANEVO have completed a full new build of the link corridor and ancillary store building in just over 4 weeks, an extremely quick programme with all works from foundations up being completed in this timeframe, including all building fabric, M&E works and Medical Gas installations.

HANEVO Awarded EDM Sites on Year 3 Programme at Wessex

Following the successful delivery of numerous EDM site installations for Wessex Water, Hanevo have been awarded an additional 15 sites on the EDM Mon 1 Contract, the fir st of the year 3 programme.

The works will form part of the ongoing schedule to upgrade spill monitoring and performance at selected sites. The works will be carried out to Wessex Water standards, specifications and WIMES. The installations require Hanevo to develop the RAMS and PRAs and liaise with the Wessex Water IS Dept to co-ordinate “End to End” testing.

HANEVO Awarded Cath Lab Project at Epsom Hospital

HANEVO have been awarded the Cath Lab enabling project at Epsom Hospital, on behalf of Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. Commencing on site in late March 2022, HANEVO will be designing and constructing a new link building to tie existing facilities to a new specialist modular Relocatable Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab) unit. As part of the Trust’s plans to ensure the patient care backlog caused by COVID can be significantly reduced, and the need to expand the scope of services and procedures currently delivered to their patients, The Trust have put a ‘high priority’ tag on this project and require a fast tracked and collaborative approach.

With an extremely challenging programme of 8 weeks, HANEVO will be undertaking all design works, groundwork, external walls and facades, roofing and full internal fit out of the link building. Mechanical, Electrical, Medical Gas and other specialist services will be included in the works, adopting a close relationship with incumbent Trust specialists. The new build will also involve the refurbishment of consultant offices and will be carefully phased to maintain full public and staff access into the existing building throughout. HANEVO will be working in a fully collaborative manner with the Cath Lab provider and service delivery leads to ensure that the design and construction is fully co-ordinated with their elements of construction works and functionality in operation.

HANEVO are well progressed on our G Block refurbishment works for Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. Completing in the coming weeks, HANEVO have been undertaking full refurbishment of 2 floors of the building to provide new clinical and administrative space for Renal Services provided by the Trust at the main St Helier Hospital in Carshalton. HANEVO have undertaken strip-out and demolition, mechanical and electrical installation, hygienic cladding, flooring, decoration, and specialist fit-out or a v ariety of spaces to necessary HTM regulations.

Commenced in January 2022 following a short enabling contract, HANEVO have undertaken all works at a fast pace to a demanding programme, whilst working around live Hospital premises and accommodating the needs of patients, staff and visitors throughout. HANEVO complete Frome PS pre-construction

Hanevo have completed their pre-construction design and planning for the Frome WPS contract for Wessex Water and are due to commence on site at the end of March 2022. This CDM project involves all civil, mechanical, electrical and ICA works and includes the removal of old pumps, pipework, control panel and installation of new whilst keeping the site running. The system control philosophy was developed in consultation with the control panel supplier and the client.

Part of the original client scope was to provide a generator to facilitate changeover from the old to the new control panel. Hanevo were able to design an alternative solution which negated the need for the generator, thus benefiting the project’s environmental footprint. As this Contract falls under CDM requirements, Hanevo used it’s internal ISO systems to provide the required documentation on which the client commented; “it is nice to see Hanevo have a good system”.

Hanevo has been awarded a contract by Wessex Water at Frome STW for the complete upgrade of the site Recirculation Pumping Station including all required civil, mechanical, electrical and ICA works.

This contract requires the design and replacement of pipework, pumps, security works, MCC, telemetry. and includes for development of software controls in-conjunction with client’s third parties.

HANEVO has been awarded a place on the Wessex Water M&E Support Framework being successful on all 3 lots of Mechanical, Electrical and Combined Mechanical & Electrical.

This award comes after HANEVO have previously been awarded a place on the Amp 7 EM&I framework.

HANEVO has recently completed SPS upgrades at Chippenham & Hinton Road.

The works which included the installation of new control panels, kiosks and associated controls were delivered on time and within budget. Minor civil works, ducting and over-pumping formed part of the project. These projects are added to a growing portfolio of successful pump station contracts delivered by HANEVO.

Elizabeth Yates of HANEVO noted that additional Pump Stations are currently underway, and the delivery teams involved have created an enviable track record on delivery with client requirements being at the forefront of every success. “We work to fully understand what our client outcome requirements are before we commence planning, and this means we get it right first time. In addition, a lot of these pump stations are located, in areas of public use, where safety and minimal intrusion form the leading edge of our planning and decision making”.

Wessex Water have confirmed the award of their Closed Pipe Flow Metering Modification Works to HANEVO.

The multi-year works programme is expected to be undertaken on over 90 sites with project scoping to commence shortly. HANEVO recently completed Even Duration Monitoring works for Wessex water and the project team are now looking forward to engaging on this new project.

Elizabeth Yates, HANEVO Lead project manager for the Wessex region noted the project delivery team members have already been selected and pre commencement planning is underway.

Prestigious NHS contract award for HANEVO

HANEVO has been award a major project to upgrade the Tynemouth Road Health centre.

The works include M&E services, backlog maintenance, fire compartmentation works and alteration of existing rooms, including the removal of fixtures and fittings. Wall decoration, floor coverings and ceilings, installation of IPS units and the remodelling of the reception areas at ground and 1st floor levels are also included.

The project will complete with the installation of an external platform lift and associated external works including alterations to the existing pedestrian entrance. This project, which starts immediately, is an essential addition to children’s services provision, and will take 6 months to complete. The works programme will be phased as the centre will be in use throughout the project.

Joe Mountain, contracts manager for HANEVO, noted “This project is a reward for the hard work undertaken by HANEVO and our supply chain in understanding our client requirements. We have worked to develop a track record of delivering in critical and live working environments in a safe and efficient manner. Hanevo Awarded Pump Stations Upgrade Contract

Hanevo have been awarded an additional 3 x pump station upgrades by Wessex Water. The works located at Chippenham, Bratton and Purton will commence on site shortly.

Typical scope of works at each site includes the installation of new kiosks and panels, new ultrasonic controllers, telemetry, building services, earth bonding and NICEIC testing and commissioning.

Richard Gray noted that this project award is a result of the consistent delivery of the team operating in the Wessex Region and the measured approach adopted when scoping solutions. “We take time at the early engagement phase of these projects to fully understand our client’s project objectives. Once we have a clear understanding of these, then and only then will we scope a solution so that each time our client’s expectations are matched or exceeded”.

Work is expected to complete in August 2021.

Civil Contract Award for Hanevo

Having recently been appointed Chief Operation Officer for Hanevo, Dave Shaw was delighted to confirm a new contract award for Hanevo’s Civil division in a Tier 1 contractor capacity.

Dave noted “As a result of the growing relationship with our client, we are in discussions on several other projects in addition to this prestigious one”.

This London based scheme for an International Property Development Firm will commence in July and take 13 weeks to completion. Hanevo were selected at the end of a thorough tendering process with experience of the project personnel and minimum disruption to the public being among the key requirements for the Client.

The JCT contract will be completed in line with statutory duties, requiring local Council 278 Quality management procedures with the Environmental Health & Safety procedures in line with CDM2015. The works involve interaction with the Council and Highway authorities on behalf of the client. Bulk excavation, road surfacing, block paving, kerbing, bicycle lanes and white lining form the main components of the project. Hanevo will supply all plant, labour and materials.

HANEVO has recently completed upgrade works to Hallen Caravan Park Pump Station. With an increasing portfolio of such projects, HANEVO continues to demonstrate their understanding of client requirements while positively engaging with residents and other stakeholders impacted by such works. Hallen PS included asset strip out and removal and the supply and installation of new equipment. A new control kiosk, control panel, earthing, power & instrumentation wiring, lifting davit and safety plant were among the key items installed. Civil works included the installation of a new valve chamber, provision of new concrete sump cover slab c/w access and inspection cover.

Elizabeth Yates of HANEVO thanked the supply chain. “We are receiving new orders and commendations for this type of work on an ongoing basis. We work extremely hard to really understand what all stakeholders need to achieve from such projects. Peace of mind for our client is related to how our work positively impacts those living and working adjacent the works area. SPS completion for HANEVO

HANEVO has completed another programme of SPS pumping upgrades for Wessex Water on time and within budget.

The challenge on such schemes can differ dependent on location, condition and complexity. Steeple Ashton, for example, included the replacement of the existing isolator, removal of existing plant, the provision of a new 3 phase distribution board and associated controls and the installation of new pumps, valves & pipework, control panel and associated wiring.

A feature of these types of installations is the mix of requirements involved between MEICA and Civil. In this case, in addition to the core MEICA works, civil alterations including pump base construction, valve chamber alterations, ducting and other civil alterations were included.

Richard Gray of HANEVO noted that a key requirement in all cases to achieve the obligatory safety, environmental and quality standards is proper pre-construction planning. “We like to plan once and get it “right first time”. This is an obvious aspiration, but in HANEVO we involve all disciplines from design through to commissioning & handover in real and meaningful collaboration at the very beginning. This ensures the “right first time” aspiration becomes a reality for HANEVO and our clients”.

EDM Success for HANEVO

As part of their programme of maintenance, Wessex Water identified a number of assets which required upgrade work to spill monitoring and performance. This work was required to maintain compliance with environmental consents.

HANEVO were awarded a programme of site upgrades across a variety of assets from CSOs to SPSs to STW’s, in order to assess monitoring compliance, and identify and deliver solutions to improve performance where required.

Works were delivered in 2 phases. Phase 1 was for initial scoping to ascertain site details and performance. This involved the deployment of a specialist NC2 trained, 3-man confined space entry teams. Phase 2 comprised the installation works themselves. These works were carried out to Wessex Water standards, specifications and WIMES. These installation works required HANEVO to develop the RAMS & PRAs and liaise with the Wessex Water IS Dept to co-ordinate “End to End” testing.

Having been commended by Wessex Water for the works delivery, Elizabeth Yates thanked the HANEVO supply chain, both internal and external, without whom the ongoing success of HANEVO would not be possible.

HANEVO Awarded Simmons House External Security Upgrade

HANEVO has been awarded the contract to undertake external security upgrade works to Simmons House, London and works have recently commenced on site.

Simmons House is a standalone community facility in Archway, North London. The facility provides adolescent mental health care services.

The works are required to improve the security of external areas and the contract includes Installation of replacement fencing to the perimeter of the courtyard area as well as inclusion of covers to RWPs. Working in such a sensitive environment requires significant collaboration and planning with key stakeholders. Work techniques must put patient wellbeing and ongoing care provision to the forefront. This opportunity is a further demonstration of the clients continued trust in HANEVO to deliver in occupied and critical environments. The works will take 3 weeks to complete.

HANEVO, the national MEICA, civil engineering and critical environments contract partner, are pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Shaw as their new Chief Operating Officer. Dave brings over 30 years of industry knowledge and experience to the business having previously held the position of Regional Director for Barhale. Dave will work with the board on the strategic development of the company and will be responsible for day to day management of the operational delivery of multi-disciplined activities. Key will be focus on the role the business plays in achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients.

Recently filed accounts for HANEVO indicate a solid 2020 trading performance despite the impacts of Covid 19. The 12 months trading period YE 31st December 2020 showed a 16% increase in like for like revenue compared to the previous 12 month reporting period and a 10% uplift on the 2019 nine months filing. Profits held stable at just under 5%. Cash increased by 50% and trade creditors dropped to a record low with rating agencies confirming HANEVO pay creditors faster than industry average. The Board, acknowledging the performance, expressed confidence for 2021 with a recent AMP7 Water framework award being a first for the company and new opportunities being explored in their Water, Critical Environment and Civil divisions.

Recently contracted to undertake welfare improvements at various locations, HANEVO completed all four sites within budget and on programme.

The work was undertaken at Milverton, Portbury Wharf, Longbridge and Tintinhull Ash.

Civils, Mechanical & Electrical improvement works included,

Preparation of ground
New ducting for electrical cabling
Concrete foundation slabs or raised plinths (depending on the flood risk)
Installation of access pathways and/or steps as required.

HANEVO complete works at Lytchett Matravers Reservoir

Hanevo has completed works at the Lytchett Matravers Reservoir in Dorset.

Having recently invested in the requirements needed to operate in drinking water environments, we were delighted to undertake this project.

The contract was delivered on time and on budget. It included the supply and installation of a new metal clad Hager distribution board with associated breakers and enclosures. Power cabling from the new distribution board to ventilation, power, heating, and intruder alarm systems were all provided. A new supply was also installed for the auto sample taps.

Grainne Hanley, who oversees commercial & admin at Hanevo noted that while the company has a proven reputation in Wastewater and Critical Environments, it was not active in the Clean Water market until recently.

“We continue to improve our offering to the market. We made the decision to invest in the training, certification and compliance needed to operate in the clean water sector. HANEVO has recently concluded works on the Radstock Road Sewage Treatment Works in Midsomer Norton. This is yet another successful project completed at a key SWT site in the South of England.

The scope of the project included installation of:

• Civil works including site clearance, ducting, bases, valve chamber c/w cover and perimeter fencing.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Upgrade Complete

HANEVO was recently selected to upgrade the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Whittington Health NHS trust in London.

Key to a successful outcome would be overcoming the difficult time constraints involved. With a strict 10 day window to undertake all of the works whilst the ward was decanted, it was essential that we completed on time and to the exacting quality standards required to enable the critical care to recommence in the ward on 5th August.

The works were undertaken using day and night shifts over the 10 days period and included both building fabric and M&E upgrade works. Flooring to all clinical spaces were replaced with new hygienic vinyl and all walls and ceilings made good and redecorated. The existing suspended ceilings were refurbished with replacement tiles and extensive cleaning. Existing clinical wash hand basins were replaced with proprietary HTM compliant IPS units and extensive new hot water service pipework was run for future connection of to serve all outlets in the ward. Additional minor works were undertaken in offices to improve privacy and working spaces.

We also took the opportunity whilst the ward was vacant to complete other works from our main Fire Remediation contract, to avoid any future disruption to service provision. This involved the replacement of fire doors sets to meet current regulations, improvements to fire stopping on compartment lines, and installation of additional emergency lighting to enhance the existing provision. A full distribution board swap was also undertaken by the Trust during our possession to improve the condition of electrical services in the area.

All works were undertaken whilst maintaining access throughout to various department staff to the offices and store areas in the ward. The completed works were handed over to a very satisfied Ward Lead on 5th August, with critical healthcare provision recommencing in the ward the same day as intended. People who depend on this critical infrastructure, depend on us, and we understand this responsibility. A huge thank you to the team who excelled yet again.

Work has concluded for HANEVO at Woodlands Edge SPS on behalf of Wessex Water.

The project includes the Installation of new wet well, new pumps and pipework and the backfill of an old wet well.

Also installed was a new kiosk base and kiosk complete with pump panel and telemetry. Further installation of chains / floats and technocover onto a concrete slab - complete with davit socket rounded off this phase.

NICEIC certificate produced and Davit lifting socket load tested and certificate provided in the O&M.

Actions taken at HANEVO to protect our engineers, clients and the general public.

At HANEVO we will be reviewing and following Governmental advice from across the UK, to ensure our engineers are operating as professionally as possible to help contain and reduce the risk of infection from Coronavirus.

The Government’s construction-specific guidance (the Construction Workplace Safety Guidance) outlines the following measures that employers should take:

Introducing one-way flow-through areas and floor markings to maintain social distancing (where possible).
Minimising the number of unnecessary visits to the worksite. Where site visits are required, making sure customers, visitors and contractors understand how to maintain safety.
Further increasing the frequency of hand washing and surface cleaning and avoiding surface transmission when goods enter and leave the site.
To reduce the risk of aerosol transmission, refraining from playing music or broadcasts that mean workers need to shout to be heard.
Sharing the results of risk assessments with the workforce.
Ensuring workers who have symptoms or who live with others who have symptoms stay at home and are tested under the Government’s test and trace service.

HANEVO will continually review our processes and procedures based upon advice from the Government.

HANEVO Advance Woodlands Edge Pump Station

HANEVO Advance Woodlands Edge Pump Station

HANEVO has advanced the installation of a new pump station at Woodland Edge on behalf of Wessex Water. The project includes all Civil, M&E and Controls required under the contract.

The project is interesting due to the tight space, live utilities, and the fact the location has a TPO (Tree preservation Order) due to a tight knit arrangement of trees within the compound.

HANEVO has worked closely with the local council on the relocation of one tree.

Health and Safety considerations in such a confined location were paramount in project planning. When complete the station will include new civils, chambers, pumps, panel, and associated controls.

Having recently completed numerous Sewage Treatment office & welfare works for Wessex Water, southern region, HANEVO has now been awarded depot improvement works on similar sites.

When submitting our tender we were careful to consider Current Electrical Regulations, CDM Regulations 2015 and Wessex Water Specifications and are delighted to be undertaking the Telford Depot improvement works, in collaboration with D. P. Burridge Ltd.

Our scope of works includes refurbishment of office, corridor, kitchen, mains room and toilet areas. Heating and fire detection will be provided throughout and a new ceiling provided to the Mezzanine area.

A special thanks, as these work awards are only possible due to the attitude demonstrated by our staff in providing a service to Wessex Water that showcases HANEVO’s qualities in full.

HANEVO awarded Asbestos Removal works

Hanevo has been awarded further new critical environmental work at the Whittington Hospital in London. Currently carrying out various large infrastructure works for the NHS, Hanevo were ideally placed to work with the client to remove asbestos found in a section of the hospital, to allow originally planned maintenance work to continue.

The work involves isolation of part of the hospital unit that prepares and sends out the daily meal requirements for the whole hospital. The initial works are to seal off access to allow the safe removal of the asbestos and setup of the de-contamination unit and other essential plant. Once this has been completed, the secondary task of continuing with the fire improvements to the infrastructure can commence. This work impinges on the day to day access of all hospital personnel, patients and visitors alike, so Hanevo planned and worked with the hospital project team to ensure that it is done in a safe and considerate manner.

In this difficult time, Hanevo are working closely with the hospital to continue safe working across all the various work elements that are required to be completed.

HANEVO awarded Budds Farm Contract

Hanevo has recently been awarded further mechanical design works at our Budds Farm project on behalf of Galliford Try. Already carrying out the electrical installation of the works, Hanevo were perfectly placed to assist our client at short notice in these unprecedented times. The works consist of the design of the pipe work and process feeds for a newly constructed digestion system as part of the AMP 6 framework with GT/ Southern Water. Pipe sizes range from 80mm to 200mm.

The contract covers the design of nearly a kilometre of internal and external pipework. It involves the recirculation lines and hot and cold water supplies to the new heat exchanger. Also included is the design of the gas line to tie into the existing gas network on site.

Recently filed accounts for HANEVO record a solid turnaround in trading performance.

The nine months trading period YE 31st December 2019 showed a like for like revenue increase

of over 40% with solid pre-tax profits of 5%.

The Board, acknowledging the improved performance, expressed confidence that subject to a solid pipeline turning into orders, their plan to sustainably grow the business in the next 5 years to £50m revenue is ahead of schedule.

HANEVO to Open New Back Office

Once Covid 19 guidelines allow and it is safe to do so, Hanevo are ready to open their new Back office

in Charleville, Co. Cork, Ireland.

The new office is headed up by Liam McCarthy who recently joined Hanevo as Lead Financial Accountant. Liam is joined in Charleville by Grainne Hanley who will head up Procurement and Administration.

The move will allow Hanevo focus on their UK activities at point of need while centralising off site functions. The move will pay dividends for clients by improving support to the site based project delivery teams.

Jim Drain, Hanevo HR manager, noted the move is one of a number of new support initiatives planned for the current calendar year as Hanevo continue to ramp up their UK activity post Covid 19.

HANEVO awarded important Whittington Health NHS Trust project

Whittington Health NHS Trust have awarded Hanevo another important project at their Northern Health Centre on Holloway Road. The project involves the adaption of rooms associated with the Islington Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) provision, to modify the services, building fabric, fixtures and fittings to suit the Trust requirements.

The project is one of many carried out for the Trust by Hanevo over the past 2 years and was awarded on the back of our excellent reputation and partnership on their estate. Works are due to commence in the coming weeks and expected to take around 1 month to complete. Features include the requirement for specialist equipment, proprietary furniture and bespoke on site adaptions to provide innovative solutions around retained building services equipment. All works will be carried out in a live healthcare environment, putting patient care and service provision at the fore of our on-site practices, through flexible working and sensitivity to all stakeholder needs.

HANLEY GROUP acquires UKSE Contract Division

HANLEY GROUP has announced the acquisition of the projects division of UKSE through its investment arm Carlton Initiatives Ltd.

UKSE Group owner Martin Wood remains owner of the UKSE Labour Supply Company while the projects arm acquired by HANLEY GROUP has been rebranded as HANEVO LTD.

Mr. Wood remains a shareholder and Director of HANEVO and noted that the move will allow him to focus on his Labour Supply Company while availing of the support and network of the HANLEY GROUP. “Hanley Group have worked on this acquisition for six months and watching how they dealt with our staff and their sincerity in making this move a win for all of us only reinforced my belief that the time was right to sell our projects arm and that HANLEY GROUP were the perfect partner. I look forward to helping the business in any way I can moving forward and know our clients will benefit from this move”.

Sorcha Hanley, Operations Manager at HANLEY GROUP noted that the acquisition makes sense for the group as their origins are in the Water, Critical Environment and M&E sectors. “Working with Martin has been a breath of fresh air as his client focussed vision sits easily with ours which has allowed us to flourish. We have already added to HANEVO’s management and we will be adding to the workforce at all levels in the coming months”.
